Senior UX Researcher at Codecademy

Codecademy is seeking an experienced Senior User Experience Researcher to join their UX team. This role will be crucial in shaping the future of Codecademy’s platform by conducting thorough research, delivering actionable insights, and supporting key strategic decisions to enhance the platform’s usability and user experience.

Job Key Responsibilities:

• Develop Research Studies: Design and implement research projects using a variety of methodologies aligned with Codecademy’s goals. Ensure the studies address important user experience questions and provide meaningful insights.
• Qualitative Research: Engage with a wide range of participants that reflect the diversity of the platform’s user base. Coordinate research sessions, manage logistics, and conduct both moderated and unmoderated sessions to explore users’ experiences, needs, and challenges.
• Quantitative Research: Gather, analyze, and interpret numerical data. Collaborate with the Data Science team to extract insights that inform design and product decisions.
• Documenting & Analyzing Findings: Record detailed observations and feedback from research sessions, analyze the data, and generate actionable recommendations. Prepare reports and presentations to share with stakeholders, and maintain thorough documentation of research processes and findings.
• Advocate for Research Best Practices: Support the development of best practices in UX research across Codecademy. Promote user-centered design principles throughout the organization.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the UX team and other departments to integrate research findings into product development, ensuring user needs are prioritized in the design process.

Skills & Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting UX research, preferably in a technology or education setting.
• A degree in a relevant field such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Anthropology, Design, or Computer Science.
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
• Experience with research tools, testing platforms, and data analysis software.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Strong analytical skills, with a focus on understanding user behavior and needs.

Bonus Skills:

• Advanced studies (Master’s degree or specialized courses) in UX research.
• Familiarity with prototyping tools and UI design (experience with Figma is a plus).
• Basic understanding of front-end or back-end development.

Salary:

The salary for this position is anticipated to range between $115,000 and $143,000 annually.
